The lovely people from SAGE UK have kindly provided us with all of the paint etc. and 16 of their fabulous volunteers to paint the Hub for us.
On Saturday 4th November, a poppy making session was held at The Birtley Hub. Children, parents and grandparents came along and created some lovely poppies for Remembrance Day. They took great pride in making the poppies and also wrote personal messages on them. The poppies were then taken along and displayed in the pavilions in The War Memorial area.
A massive thank you to all involved.

Volunteers from The Birtley Hub will open the pavilions for an hour or so after the Remembrance Day Service. This is for anyone wishing to view the poppies or to reflect and remember.

They shall grow not old
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them
Barley Mow Primary School and Portobello Primary School recently collected food donations from their annual Harvest Festival. They generously donated the food to The Hub to be divided up between two local charities. Both The Salvation Army (Birtley branch) and The Gateshead Food Bank have now collected the donations and were very grateful for them. Thank you to all who donated.
Ravensworth Terrace Primary, Birtley East and St. Josephs also gave their donations directly to very worthy causes.
It's very heartening to see that Birtley has such a generous and caring community!

The Birtley Hub has a new Website!

The new site will not only be used to promote our activities, it's also a full community help portal with useful resources including -

  • Job Search Feeds
  • Useful Contact Numbers

  • Events Calendar

Please Pay us a visit and tell us what you think.

The Website is brand new and there's not a lot of content as yet. However, our staff will be working to build this over the coming weeks.
